HISTORIC JACOB BIRY HOUSE ADAPTIVE RE-USE & RESTORATION

The Castro Colonies Heritage Association in Castroville, Texas along with the City Government, has purchased one of the original Alsatian homes in downtown Castroville. Robey Architecture is assisting the Association and the City in the development of the construction documents to restore this building which is nearly deteriorated to the point that it is falling down. The City’s historic preservation officer assisted the Association to obtain a Preserve America grant from the National Parks Service and also helped thetm to establish a Conservation Easement through the Texas Historical Commission. Robey Architecture has assisted the association to understand these regulatory requirements associated with these designations, as well as the continuing effort to coordinate the construction plans with the Texas Historical Commission, National Parks Service, and the Castroville Historic Review department.
