LAREDO PASEO DEL ANTIGUA

HISTORICAL RESTORATION
ADAPTIVE RE-USE

The pedestrian improvement project for the City of Laredo is funded in large part through ISTEA funds. It is meant to deal with the large pedestrian volume crossing every day from Mexico and the overcrowding that occurs. Sidewalk widening, bike lanes, and new street furniture that expresses the border vernacular architecture are all a part of this project.

The plan modifies vehicular traffic as neccesary to improve the traffic flow and create a better separation between it and the primary pedestrian traffic. The project emphasizes the addition of street trees and a new linear park that connect the oldest spot in Laredo with the bridge entry into Mexico.
