SPANISH GOVErNOR'S PALACE

NEW CONSTRUCTION

Located in the heart of downtown San Antonio, the Spanish Governor’s Palace was originally constructed in the early 1700’s and renovated in 1930 by the architect, Harvey Smith, as a nostalgic representation of a Spanish Colonial structure. Robey Architecture worked with the City of San Antonio and Downtown Operations to seamlessly integrate new electrical distribution and devices along with complete roof replacement.

These restorations required specific attention to the historic character of the building and the complexities associated with modifying an historic structure to meet current codes and standards. While working with the Texas Historical Commission, SA Historic Preservation Department, and local stakeholders in the facility, Robey Architecture assisted the City with of these systems, conducting a forensic assessment of the moisture issues in the building, and restoration of the interior and exterior plaster walls.
