ADAPTIVE RE-USE

The addition of a new two-story school wing that provided 16 new Classrooms, a new Library and provided a new exterior outdoor Amphitheater/Classroom space. The remaining Historic Main School Building’s interior was completely renovated and adaptively re-used to serve as the new “expanded” Administration area, Fine Arts Hall, with a new entry plaza designed to addresses circulation issues that have occurred as development patterns changed over the life of the Historical School Building.

The modern Classroom wing addition was connected to the existing Historic Main Building by an addition of a two-story atrium which provided an elevator to mitigate between the floor levels of the existing and new structures. The designed position of the new wing and it juxtaposition to the existing Historic Buildings, created a new outdoor courtyard area, preserving mature trees and providing a protected play and assembly area with ease of control by the schools staff.
